8 - 15 January, Snells Beach, New Zealand

In January 2011, 100 young adults from around New Zealand will come together at the Compass summer conference to explore how faith and life connect.

Life throws up big questions: questions of identity, suffering, beauty, joy, vocation, relationship and meaning. These questions come together in the big question that we all ask and answer every day, whether we think about it or not, what does it mean to be truly human?

Join us for a week-long residential summer conference exploring these questions, walking through the Biblical narrative of Creation, Fall and Redemption, and exploring how the Gospel provides a vision of and for every area of life.

What?

We bring together local and international speakers who are gifted communicators and who have thought about the joys and tensions of faith, vocation and culture. Throughout the week, we address a broad range of questions through seminars, panels, media and small group discussions, on topics such as theology, art, philosophy, history, law, business, education, media, politics and the church.

Sessions include: Who is God? What does it mean to be human? What is the Bible? How do we engage with culture? What about evil, suffering and grief? and What does it mean to live redemptively?

We hope to spark and grow conversations around the astonishing good news of Jesus, how we read culture well, and how to translate faith into life, so that it transforms the people and world around us.

That is, to know the Gospel, to know the culture, and to translate.
